Another great property of refrigerants is they generally have low boiling points meaning they need very little ambient temperature to still be able to perform and absorb heat.

Ok, to put it simply……..your brand new A rated condensing gas boiler, setup and commissioned correctly, and working at optimal performance will generally only be able to give you approximately 90%-95% efficiency for every unit of energy you put in.

For heat pumps, even on a bad day, for every unit of energy you are putting in, you’ll be receiving approximately 200% efficiency. When fully setup, correctly sized and running at optimal performance, some units are running up to 450% efficiency. Which means at worst, for every unit of energy that goes in, you’ll be receiving two units of heat into your property.

ASHPs use electricity, unfortunately electricity is still the more expensive energy per unit, at the moment. Although this is a very hot topic, with the government under extreme pressure to amend this, and we are strongly expecting to see a large shift in this very soon.
